Tough Competition!

It’s hard to believe the National Finals of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur are upon us once again. The team at WhiteLight Consulting are Project and Event Managers for this amazing annual competition hosted by the Dept. of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Enterprise Ireland, Google and the 31 Local Enterprise Offices around the country.

This week we met the 24 National Finalists and what an experience it was to have them all together.

A busy day started with a visit to the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation. Ministers Heather Humphreys and Pat Breen met with all of the finalists to hear about their businesses and to celebrate their achievements in making it to the #IBYE National Finals.

From there we ventured, en mass, to Cafe en Seine for a photocall with the finalists and celebrated photographer Julien Behal.

Pictured ahead of this years Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur final, taking place in Dublin on September 15th are Oisin Geoghegan Chair of the network of Local Enterprise Offices with finalists. IBYE is an initiative of the 31 Local Enterprise Offices in local authorities, funded by the Government of Ireland through Enterprise Ireland.

Our third and final stop of the day was at Google down in the Silicon Docks. Noel Davidson was waiting to meet the finalists to deliver an afternoon masterclass in pitching and presentation skills. The event began with an address by Martin Corry of Enterprise Ireland and Oisín Geoghegan, Head of the Local Enterprise Office Network. They both reminded the young entrepreneurs that as they enter the world of enterprise that both Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise Offices are there to help and support every step of the way.

The competition steps up a gear now as finalists prepare for their pitch to the panel of judges on Thursday of next week (12th September). From there they proceed with family, friends, colleagues and LEO supporters to the National Finals of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur at Google on 15th September.

Who knows who will be crowned Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur for 2019? All we know is that it’s going to be a very tough competition so many incredible competitors.
